Prof. Henning Blume receives the EUFEPS Presidential Distinction Award 2022

Henning Blume studied Pharmacy at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, where he also obtained his PhD and became a Professor in 1989. He became very interested and strongly engaged in biopharmaceutics. In 1997 he founded the Socratec company, which rapidly became a highly acclaimed institution and

competence center for clinical studies. The topic bioequivalence is strongly associated with his name. He is author of about 200 papers. In later years, his main interest focussed on bioequivalence and the quality of medicines.

Prof. Blume is member of national and international societies. He was Chairman of the Special-lnterest-Group „bioavailability and bioequivalence" of FIP. Within EUFEPS, he fostered the development of the EUFEPS Networks. For many years, he was the chairman of the very active EUFEPS Network on Bioavailability and Biopharmaceutics. Together with EUFEPS he inaugurated

and organized the GBHI conferences on global bioequivalence harmonization. Recently, he started the Frankfurt Foundation Quality of Medicines which gives several prizes for scientists who contributed to improvements in medicines quality, such as the lifetime achievement award, publication prizes and the „Pearls of Bioequivalence Award" which is awarded by the foundation

together with the EUFEPS Network Bioavailability and Biopharmaceutics.
