EUFEPS PhD students competition 2024

For the second time, EUFEPS organized a competition between PhD candidates from different member societies. In total, 9 candidates competed in a special session by giving an overview of their work in 5 min. The jury members, Prof. Mareike Lutz Sauer (Chalmers, Sweden), Istavan Greiner (Gedeon Richter, Hungary) and Prof Elias Fattal (University of Paris Saclay, France) asked a question to each candidate. Tessa de Vries (FIGON), Julia Gabel (Germany) and Elena Muñoz Pérez (Spain) have been selected by the jury as the best three candidates.

As the first winner, Tessa de Vries presented her PhD thesis with the title "Vascular models to study migraine: from human isolated blood vessels to vessel-on-chip". The second prize was awarded to Julia Gabel for her work on "Near-infrared spectroscopy for medicine quality screening in low- and middle-income countries". And Elena Muñoz Pérez received the third prize for her work on "Additive manufacturing of advanced therapies for the delivery of Mesenchymal Stromal Cell secretome as a therapeutic approach for inflammatory bowel disease".

The prizes are linked to a monetary donation of 1.000€, 750€ and 500€.
